What is a Double Degree?
You will spend less time and money on your education if you pursue a double degree rather than two separate bachelor’s or master’s degrees in unrelated areas of study. This is due to the fact that you are able to acquire knowledge in both disciplines simultaneously. In addition to this, you will have the ability to devote an equal amount of time and effort to each of the topics.
A double degree can be earned in the same amount of time as a single degree, so the total amount of time spent on education is only increased by one year. They are also an excellent way to demonstrate to prospective employers that you are dedicated to learning and developing, which can increase your chances of landing the position that you want. In addition to this, they are a fantastic instrument for demonstrating the advanced degree of knowledge that you possess.
Double Degree Benefits
By participating in what is known as a double degree or combined degree program, it is possible to receive two degrees at the same time.
For example, due to the fact that certain universities operate on a three-semester-per-year academic schedule, students have the opportunity to earn two bachelor’s degrees in three years (or slightly more) and one or two graduate degrees in the same amount of time (approximately two years). To put this into perspective, the average amount of time required to obtain a double degree while studying at an undergraduate level in that country is five years.
These are the benefits of getting a double degree for your studies:
- Acquire twice as many certifications in the same quantity of time as before.
- Adjust your course of education so that it corresponds with your objectives and preferences.
- Make your mark with a talent set that is unlike any other.
- Develop your professional connections in a variety of sectors.
- Increase the scope of your professional options.
- You should get additional education so that you can better meet the demands of your potential employment.

What is a Double Major?
A combined concentration on two distinct areas of study is known as a double major. Although these topics might be related in some ways, they can also be very distinct from one another. You will generally need to satisfy up to 12 courses in each of your selected disciplines, so if you want to successfully complete a double major, you will need to take twice as many classes relevant to each of your majors. This will require you to take twice as many classes overall.
Your major is likely on your mind, whether you are a student or nearing the statement date. Most four-year colleges require you to choose a field by your junior year. If you’re undecided or want to combine two subjects, you may consider a double major.
Double Major Benefits
If you’re acquainted with the idea of a double degree, you know that it’s a great method to improve your marketability after graduation by learning in two distinct areas. However, it is important to stop and think about the possible drawbacks, such as the fact that majoring in two separate fields may be too lengthy to allow for additional activities like internships.
When choosing whether or not to pursue a double degree, the following are some considerations to bear in mind
- Get more value for your money.
- Can help you differentiate yourself from the other people working in your industry
- Give you the opportunity to learn more than you would if you only concentrated on one major throughout your education
- Can result in a greater number of employment possibilities.

What is Dual Award Degree?
A collaboration arrangement known as dual/double or numerous award is one in which two or more awarding bodies participate in the execution of a single cooperatively delivered programme (or programmes), which ultimately results in distinct awards (and separate accreditation) being awarded by both of them or by all of them. This can happen when two or more awarding bodies work together.
By pursuing a dual award degree, you will have the opportunity to graduate with two certificates, one from a Malaysian institution and one from an institution located outside of Malaysia. Your overall study hours may be marginally higher than those of students pursuing a normal degree, but they will remain substantially lower than those of students pursuing two separate degrees at the same time.
Dual Award Degree Benefits
There are a lot of advantages to having a dual award degree. For instance, if a student goes on to successfully complete their program, not only will they receive a bachelor’s degree from a Malaysian university, but they will also receive an Australian degree from an Australian university that has an excellent reputation around the world.
The dual award degree programmes that are provided in collaboration with institutions located outside of Malaysia, such as those located in Australia and the United Kingdom, have numerous advantages, including the following:
- You can earn an international degree of the same standard in Malaysia, saving you money on the cost of global education costs
- It gives you access to more possibilities both locally and internationally
- Improve your chances of getting hired by making yourself more marketable
- You will have an easier time applying to institutions in other countries or those that use the education system of your home country if you have received a Dual Award Degree
