What is Electronic & Electrical Engineering?
Electrical engineering is related to manage power generation, storage and transmission. Electronics engineering is about electronic appliances, devices and applications. These two types of engineering are similar and their field of expertise often overlapped with each other. Electronics engineers often deal with small electronic parts, circuit boards, wiring, and etc. As for electrical engineers, they deal with bigger components such as generator and storage.
The Degree courses normally will take 4 years to complete the entire programme. Once you finish the undergraduate programme, you will have to choose to pursue postgraduate programme (Master). Additionally, you are able to register with BEM as a Graduate Engineer once you completed a Degree in Electronics and Electrical. This will provide you more career opportunities as a professional engineer.
What skills do you need to be an Electronic Engineer?
1. Creative
If you are curious and eager to learn new stuff, this would be one of the ideal courses for you. Assemble electronic parts and make it a workable circuit board or dismantle electronics just to know what’s inside. Creativity and innovations are needed to make a breakthrough in electrical and electronics field.
2. Good in Mathematics and Computer
Although science isn’t one of electronic engineer’s strong suits, they heavily relies on mere calculation and digital programming skills. Dealing with complex mathematics and coding are the common tasks for them, but it won’t be easy to solve it.
3. Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving skills
Electrical & electronic engineers normally encounter issues related to programming, design and system, there will be some complex problems that require critical thinking skills. Analytical skills and strategic thinking are an essential component for engineers to overcome barriers on a daily basis.
