Study Law in University of Tasmania
A law degree is a requirement to admission as a legal practitioner. Today, however, employers from a widening range of developing value the skills that law graduates possess. A range of career choices lie open to law graduates as a solicitor, industry legal officer, barrister or ministerial adviser, as well as in community legal centres, legal aid, the Attorney-General’s department, law reform commissions, consumer affairs, environment, foreign affairs, police, politics, legal drafting, banking, finance, journalism, publishing and teaching.Professional Recognition
The Law degree meets the prerequisite of the accrediting body, the Tasmanian Board of Legal Education. Upon graduating from the University, a law student wishing to practise in Tasmania is required to undertake a half year Legal Practice course. Under the mutual recognition scheme, after gaining admission and obtaining a practising certificate in Tasmania lawyers can practise in another state of Australia without having to obtain a practising certificate in the latter jurisdiction. The University of Tasmania is offering an FULL-FEE SCHOLARSHIP to a top performing Malaysian student commencing a Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) in February 2018.About the Scholarship
At approximately AU$108,000, this scholarship is the most prestigious available to any international student planning to study at the University of Tasmania. It covers full tuition fees for the duration of their degree at the University of Tasmania, student service and amenities fees.Scholarship application process
Apply for a Bachelor of Laws (Direct Entry) via an authorised UTAS agent. Submission deadline for scholarship application is by 31 October 2017 and the winner will be announced in December 2017.Eligibility
This competitive, merit-based scholarship will be awarded to an international student commencing an undergraduate Bachelor of Laws (Direct Entry) who:- is a Malaysian citizen
- applies to study a Bachelor of Laws (Direct Entry) through an authorised University of Tasmania agent
- receives an offer to study a Bachelor of Laws (Direct Entry)
- commences in Semester 1, 2018
- has not previously undertaken any tertiary studies (excluding extension studies completed as part of a year 12 program or its equivalent)
- is not applying for advanced credit
