WSU was established in 1989, under “Western Sydney University Act 1997 a state legislative body that established a federal network university with an incorporation of the Nepean College of Advanced Education with the Hawkesbury University of Agriculture. In 2001, the University of West Sydney was restructured as a single multi-campus university. In 2015, the university underwent a change in name from Western Sydney University to Western Sydney University. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate and university degrees in research with campuses in Bankstown, Blacktown, Campbelltown, Hawkesbury, Parramatta, and Penrith.
Today, Western Sydney University is a well-known, multicultural university, representing approximately 48,500 students from more than 70 countries worldwide. The university has a total of 38,827 undergraduate enrollment, while 7,123 students are graduates or pursuing higher studies. The University currently employs approximately 1,675 university students and 1,712 administrative personnel.

International Student Support in WSU

Academic support – International students can join the English Conversation Group to build confidence in speaking the English language. Star Pronunciation has associated with WSU in providing 20 hours of training to develop students’ pronunciation, verbal communication and interview skills.
Personal support – The Student Welfare Service provides advice to students on financial assistance, accommodation and health-related issues. WSU also has an After-Hours Student Assistance Line specifically for international students. This is a hotline service, where students could contact the people in charge if international students encountered any problem after college hours.
MATES is a mentoring program that provides an opportunity for first-year students to get in touch with other new students and mentors in later years of study. This helps new students meet other students, network with other students to adapt to life at university.
Employability support – WSU Careers provides online service for students in searching for jobs, tips on preparing a resume, careers events and workshops. They even assign education consultants for students to get advice regarding their future career.
Cultural Support – The Student Representation and Participation unit conduct Diversity Fest which is an important event that celebrates the diverse community across many dimensions including culture, sex, gender, physical and mental abilities, age, ethnicity, religious practices and socio-economic status.
