General Pathway to become an Educator in Malaysia

In this section, we’ll briefly talk about some of the pathway options to become an Educator in Malaysia. These are pathways after completion of SPM or any equivalent examination with qualifying scores. You may also need to register with the Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Pendidikan (SPP) or the Education Service Commission Malaysia if you are looking to pursue Teaching Jobs in national schools of Malaysia.

The first option is to enrol in a Diploma of Education, where completion enables you to teach for students at the primary level.

The second option is to enrol in a Bachelor of Education, after a relevant pre-university programme or a qualifying Diploma programme. Completion of a Bachelor of Education can grant you a job as an Educator for students at a secondary level.

The third option is to go for Teach For Malaysia’s Fellowship Program, after completion in any undergraduate degree. This programme might be more relevant for those who realise their passion in teaching in later years.
