What is the skilled migration occupation list?
The Skilled Occupation List (SOL) is one of the factors that is considered for immigration purposes in Australia. To fulfill the skilled migration to Australia, it is advisable to choose an occupation with a high ranking in the SOL.
The Australian government reviews this list regularly and determines which occupation needs to add or remove from the SOL to meet the needs of the economy of Australia annually.

1. Economist
The job description of an economist is to study the reason behind an organisation’s decisions and delves into handling the data which could potentially boost profits, conduct research and create better public policies.
Often, banks and financial institutes rely heavily on individuals who can analyse risk investment and manage lending practices. Additionally, economists may also focus on customer and company spending to strategically boost profits and make evaluated financial decisions.
Studying economics teaches how to make well-informed decisions. It revolves around the process of decision making: what should be done to fix budget deficits; how to be able to raise profit margins and so on.
Salaries of economics graduates are among the highest of most professions. According to The Institute for Fiscal Studies, “economics is the second most lucrative degree subject after using anonymous tax data and student loan records for 260,000 students up to ten years after graduation”

2. Statistician
The role of a statistician is to analyse data and apply mathematical and statistical techniques to solve various problems in industries such as business, engineering, healthcare etc. This field provides some of the technique to evaluate ideas, theory testing and discovering truth based on factual data.
