When you watch CSI (Crime Scene and Investigations) or Law & Order, you feel thrilled every time the police officer enters the new crime scenes or when they finally know the victim’s cause of death. When they catch the suspect and eventually the real bad guy, somehow you feel accomplished too.
But, have you ever wondered how they manage to find the clues to solve the crime mysteries? Well, it is through Forensic Science. Let us dive deeper into this course.
What is Forensic Science?
Forensic Science is the use of science such as Physics, Chemistry, and even Biology in the forensic field. The focus is to gather, identify, and evaluate physical evidence that will be used in the courtroom.
The evidence gathered will then be used to prove the existence of crime, the perpetrator of the crime, and the possible connection to that crime. However, Forensic Science is not only be used to investigate crime such as murder or drug trafficking but it is also used in civil law such as the willful pollution of air or water.
How Forensic Science Works?
Forensic scientists usually focus on crime scene investigation, where the crime was committed. In the crime scene, they will be using Forensic Science methods such as:
Fingerprints Analysis
Fingerprints left could be used to identify the potential suspect.
Bloodstain Pattern Analysis
When the murder happened, Forensic Scientists will examine the patterns of bloodstain in the crime scene to figure out how the perpetrator attacked or even the weapon used.
Accident Reconstruction
The Forensic Scientist will reconstruct the conditions of the accident by using clues that they found. They will find out what was happening before, during, and after the accident.
Why Study Forensic Science?
Protect the Community
You are protecting the public as you will be capturing the perpetrator of the crime and put the bad guy behind bars. You are like the Marvel’s Avengers superheroes to people in your society!
Sharpening Your Problem Solving Skills
Students will be exposed and trained in the area of problem-solving skills. You will be taught how to look, think, and take action in a certain way to solve crimes. You will gather scientific evidence to find a solution to the mysterious crimes.
Love for Science
You have a strong desire for Science! This field is combining all types of Science to find the missing puzzles. You will have access to scientific equipment and technique to uncover the truth. You will be collecting fingerprints, hair to find DNA or you will be attending a post-mortem check-up to find out the victim’s cause of death.
