What are the Qualities to Become a Teacher?
1. Patience
Each student will have their own unique learning style and capability. Some students have difficulty in mathematics, some language and some arts. A teacher must not portray their frustration towards the students while teaching. Therefore, you must be patient in teaching them and overcome their struggle.
2. Empathy
Children and teenagers have big feelings and often deal with more than we know outside the classroom. A teacher must be able to empathize with the students’ feelings.It is very crucial to understand and validate their emotions in order for them to become emotionally mature. You must be able to put yourself in a student’s shoes and help them feel understood. During teaching, you must be sensitive and thoughtful to ensure students feel safe.
3. Good communication skills

Every student is different therefore, teachers must have excellent skills in talking, listening and conveying the knowledge to them. Apart from that, teachers need to communicate with other teachers and parents to ensure a successful learning among students.
4. Knowledgeable
Teachers must be fully equipped with the subjects that they are teaching. This is because students are very curious and inquisitive. Therefore, teachers must be able to answer all sorts of related questions to ensure students get the full knowledge and pass in their examinations.
5. Bring fun into classroom
Many students associate school with boredom. Therefore, teachers must bring fun into the classroom to instill excitement and anticipation among the students so they look forward to each session. Teachers must not only use traditional textbooks but incorporate modern technology such as Youtube videos, games and slideshows during teaching.

What is the Education Pathway to Become a Teacher in Australia?
For those who want to become a teacher but took a different undergraduate degree and do not have the Bachelor of Education, can further their study in Master of Teaching.
Bear in mind, Master of Education is not the same with Master of Teaching. A Master of Education does not allow you to become a registered teacher in Australia, therefore the IELTS requirements are lower compared to Master of Teaching. Meanwhile, earning a Master of Teaching allows you to teach and thus, most universities require a higher IELTS score.
