Level 7 – One Year Graduate Diploma Program

LEVEL 7 graduate diploma is a very popular program in New Zealand as they allow students to get further stay permit (post-study work visa) after studying a minimum of one year in New Zealand. Level 7 programs are highly skilled and specialised as it is equivalent to first-year entry of Master Degree or 3-years Bachelor’s Degree. Level 7 programs have a variety of specialisations and are offered by both universities and private institutions.

Intakes

There are few intakes in a year across different institutes. Generally on July and October.

Entry Requirement 

An applicant must have ONE of the following :

  • A Level 6 or higher qualification Diploma (or equivalent) OR
  • A Bachelor degree in related disciplines OR
  • Relevant industry experience in a related field AND 
  • IELTS score of 6.0 ( academic ) with no band score lower than 5.5, or equivalent NZQA approved English language test.

Further Stay Permit Strategy (Post-Work Visa)

Level 7 programs are also offered by universities as the first year of the Master’s degree. International students can opt for the same by dividing their Master’s degree in level 7 and 8 which is Masters Degree first year and second year respectively.

Advantages of dividing Master’s degree for Level 7: In New Zealand, International students are allowed to take up the job search visa twice under current visa rule.

If you are studying a Postgraduate course or a Level 7 course listed on long-term skill shortage list, your spouse will be eligible to accompany you to New Zealand and allow to work full time.

How to apply

Students can complete their application in four steps:

Step 1

They must choose their study programme and check if they meet the required academic entry requirements and English entry requirements.

Step 2

Students must prepare supporting documentation:

  • Certified copy of academic result (translated into English if applicable).
  • Certified copy of English test results (Academic IELTS, TOEFL or equivalent) if applicable.
  • Certified copy of passport identification page.

Step 3

Students must apply through a representative (or us).

Step 4

Students must accept their offer to progress their application. Once their application is approved, students will receive an offer letter which includes instructions on how to:

  • Accept the offer
  • Pay the deposit
  • Provide outstanding documents if required
