What is Blockchain?

Blockchain is a system of recording information in a manner that makes hacking or cheating the system, unviable.

In a nutshell, a blockchain is a digital ledger of transactions that is duplicated and transferred across the network of computer systems on the blockchain. Each block in the chain contains a number of transactions, and every time a new transaction occurs on the blockchain, a record of that transaction is added to every participant’s ledger. The decentralized database managed by multiple participants is known as Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT).

Rise in Interest around Blockchain

There has been a significant interest in the blockchain industry in recent times as many unsuccessful attempts of creating digital money have increased. The main cause of this has been found to be mistrust. The concern here is to ensure that those who create this new currency, won’t steal or create millions of X currency for themselves.

Bitcoin was developed to solve this issue by using a specific type of database called the blockchain. Blockchain is different in this manner as nobody is in charge and it’s run by those who use it. As Bitcoin can’t be faked, hacked or double spent, people who own this money can trust that it has some value.

As we move toward enhanced payment methods and practically going cashless, blockchain is an industry which is bound to boom and knowing what the implications of this technology is a very advanced and futuristic career pathway. This skill set will help you in any of the professions you choose to pursue and also position you at the forefront of change.
